We are saddened to hear that the U.S. Supreme Court has decided to allow the state of Georgia to execute Troy Davis without hearing powerful evidence of his innocence. The Council of Europe, former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and even Pope Benedict XVI have plead for his case to be reviewed. This means that the highest court in the United States is uninterested in whether the people it executes are guilty or not.

With the American candidates clearly unwilling to discuss human impacts on climate change, we need an army of informed activists on this issue to challenge their leaders worldwide. Say No to 42 Days

The UK government is attempting to pass a Counter-Terrorism Bill which would allow law-enforcement officers to lock up anyone deemed suspected of terror-related offences for up to 42 days without a charge. Based on little or no evidence, police could lock up UK citizens without even charging them with a crime. This is a flagrant offence to our essential civil liberties. Please join us and Amnesty International in signing a petition opposing this offensive measure.

Albert's Conviction Overturned!

For a third and final time, Federal District Court judge James Brady overturned Albert Woodfox's murder conviction, after the state again tried and failed to keep the conviction in place. Brady ordered the state of Lousiana to free Albert within 120 days or retry him.
