Where to go in summer?
After all this campaigning you need a break in the summer. But what can you do? Not flying or traveling over too long distances. This is bad for the climate. No shopping trips to trendy cities. All this over-consumption... Of course it is always possible to cycle to a nature areas with some good good books to read. Or hitch-hike to some friends to chat, drink and have fun with. But it is even better to go to an action camp. There are plenty of possibilities in the coming months. Below you can find a selection. There you'll find enough nice people for chatting and drinking. Or you can just bring your books anyway.

Pigs say: If you care about climate change, eat less meat, milk and eggs
On Tuesday June 3rd, a group of pigs made a small action for a more vegan Amsterdam. They handed out vegan snacks to encourage people not to buy that ham for dinner. It may look like the pigs acted out of self-interest, but today their message was that meat production is a major cause of climate change. While the UN is conferring in Rome on World Food Security and Climate change, the pigs put a focus on that average Europeans have a diet of disaster. Raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined.

Action reports and other updates from the UN Biodiversity Summit in Bonn
From the 12 until the 30th of May the UN summit on Biodiversity (CBD) took place in the German town Bonn. But as expected the current problems with the food and climate crisis have not been solved by this meeting. Not even some serious steps in the right direction. But what can you expect with countries like Canada and Australia that mainly defend the interests of their large scale agriculture. Also delegations from European countries are thinking more about their multinationals and own decadent consumption pattern than about nature and a healthy and social food production.
