As I go from day to day in this life that I call now, I wonder where I came from and where I am going someday. It is as though this life is a dream, reality waits on either end, The truth to be known only in death and before birth. Someday I will awaken in the realm I call Beyond, Then and only then will I know the truth. Perhaps this life I'm living will be a dream I can't remember And life to me then will be true knowledge and splendor. I await the day when I go beyond this life I live today When I will know the true meaning of what is life. Till then I will live this life as though it is a pleasant dream And someday waken in the realm I know now as “Beyond.” written by Shirley © 2000 On a day like any other day on Tuesday morning July 18, 2000, I was preparing coffee for my husband and myself, when suddenly the word “Beyond” popped into my head and a poem started flowing through my brain.  While I do occasionally write poetry, most of which I destroy after I write it, this poem felt special.  I set our coffee cups down and told my hubby that I would be right back.  As I rushed into the office I felt the need to use an old pen, one of which I don't even like.  Somehow, I could not write fast enough.  The words to this poem were coming to me as though they were being dictated.  I wrote as fast as I could and in less than five minutes I was done.  My husband had not even started to drink his coffee yet!  After I wrote it, I could not remember it.  When I read it, it sounded like something I had never heard, yet I knew I had just written it.  “Beyond” says exactly what I feel inside but had not been able to express until that time.  Maybe it was my subconscious speaking or someone from Beyond who was speaking through me.  Anyway, I am happy to have had the chance to express my feelings and to share them with you.  I sincerely hope the words in this poem have made your day just a little brighter.
