Jacobs who supplied much of the information on the Picou descendants and lists his sources. Albert Robichaux has written an excellent book on the European origins of many of the German Coast families entitled "German Coast Families: Their European Origins and Settlement in Colonial Louisiana." Robichaux did extensive research on five separate occasions in France and includes most of the families who established the First and Second German Coasts, including the Picous. Thanks also to Steve Fleming and to all the Picou descendants who added many Picou connections. Page created on 4 Aug 1999; updated 5 April 2002; links checked 12 Nov 2006. Archdiocese of New Orleans Sacramental Records, Vol. 2, p.227. BAPTISM: SLC-B1,163. MARRIAGE: SLC-B5,179. Marie married Ignace Leon BOMPIERRE on 20 Jul 1764 in St. Louis Church, New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana USA. She died c1776 in Santo Domingo. Note from Bill Richardson: Marie Louise married a second time to Thomas GALLARD and they had a son named Thomas GALLARD, who had written Gov. Claiborne, on his mother's behalf, stating that she was still alive in 1804. According to the succession records, Marie Louise and BOMPIERRE left Louisiana about 1779 and the family got word in 1792 that she had died, which wasn't true (either that or Thomas Gallard, Jr. was an imposter?). Probably it was BOMPIERRE who had died. It is obvious from the information provided by the family in the succession records that Marie Louise did not die in 1776, since she did not leave Louisiana until 1779. From succession record of her mother - No.55 11-04-88 in Conrad's Abstracts, p.86/87 - Letter from Jean-Louis Picou to Governor Gayoso, Jean-Louis Picou informs the governor that his sister Louise left Louisiana about 25 years before to live in Santo Domingo (this would be about the time she married Bompierre[wr]). About 13 years later the family had received word that she had died. He indicates, therefore, that her share of her mother's succession was placed in the hands of their brother, Nicolas Picou for her or for her heirs. Letter, Apr 19, 1804, from Thomas Gallard to William C. C.Claiborne. Gallard, being the son of Marie Louise Picou, indicates that his mother is alive and that he possesses power of attorney to collect her share of her parents' succession. Clairborne forward the petition to the commandant of the Second German Coast to take whatever action he deems just. 3.
