Campus Conflict Resolution Resources Main Quad
This is the opening page of a U.S. Department of Education-funded project supporting
the growth and development of conflict resolution and mediation programs on college
and university campuses. It is directed by Bill Warters and housed at Wayne State
University's College of Urban, Labor, and Metropolitan Affairs. The site uses
an image map of a fictional campus, with links on "buildings" labeled as the Welcome
Center (where you can register as a site visitor), the Main
Library, the Faculty Club, the Student
Center, the Conflict Resolution
Services Center, the Classroom
Building, the Skills Training
Complex, the Staff and Administration
Building and the Newsstand. Also noteable
is the site map light post providing a
full overview of the site's pages. People are invited to browse the entire campus,
or to take a tour. Generally we have attempted to categorize our resources by
the likely user group and the type of information. We are using a metaphor of
buildings and rooms, with different buildings designed to meet the needs of special
user groups. For instance, it is assumed that faculty would be regulars at the
faculty center, where they would find books and tools and tips of interest to
people teaching conflict resolution, or network and relax in the lounge, while
students would go to the Student Center, campus mediators and program coordinators
to the Conflict Resolution Services Building, trainers to the Traning Complex,
Administrators to the Staff and Administration Building, etc. Of course, the Main
Library and Newsstand are for everyone's use, providing a portal into our full
holdings and links to outside information and news.
