Wisconsin Avoids “No Match, No Vote” Misstep

Aug. 28 – Yesterday, the state's Government Accountability Board narrowly rejected a flawed proposal that would forced all un-matched voters to cast provisional ballots, ignoring tales of rampant election fraud and calls for "no match, no vote" policy. Had it passed, "nearly a quarter of voters submitting new registrations or address changes would have been denied a regular ballot in November based on typos, data entry mistakes, missing middle initials and other trivial clerical errors," according to the Brennan Center's Adam Skaggs. WSJ: Voter Registration the New Battleground

Aug. 11 – Today, the Wall Street Journal reports voter registration has become an increasinly contentious issue between the Democratic and Republican presidential campaigns. This despite the fact that most state election officials say there is no evidence of widespread fraud this year, even with the increase in voter registration. Both sides are presently ramping up legal efforts to watch the polls this November. Nov04 Go vote! Obama and The Small Donor EffectMichael Waldman – 06/20/08 Barack Obama’s decision to opt out of public funding for the general election is not a surprise. It was so well telegraphed, he should take out a patent. The presidential public funding system worked well for three decades after it was enacted in the early 1970s. It leveled the playing field, boosted competition and reduced corruption. Think of it this way: in the first five elections under presidential public funding, a challenger beat an incumbent president three times. There’s no congressional district in America with that much competition!  More from the Executive Director Home | About Us | Get Involved | Employment | Terms of Service | Contact Us | Privacy | Site Map Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law | 161 Avenue of the Americas, 12th Floor | New York, NY 10013212.998.6730 phone | 212.995.4550 fax | brennancenter@nyu.eduWashington, D.C. office | 1730 M Street, NW, Suite 413 | Washington, D.C. 20036202.785.4747 phone | 202.785.4744 fax | brennancenter@nyu.eduvar gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ?
