The Human Kindness Foundation,
founded by Bo and Sita Lozoff, is a non-profit
organization which stresses a way of life based upon three common principles taught by the
great sages of all religions: Simple living, a dedication to service, and a commitment to
personal spiritual practice.
Besides its internationally respected Prison-Ashram
Project, begun in 1973, the Foundation sponsors and schedules Bo Lozoff's talks,
workshops and concerts. Bo has led events in hundreds of prisons, hospitals, churches,
universities and spiritual centers around the globe. He is also an award-winning
singer/songwriter whose performances and CDs, along with his books, tapes and videos,
provide a significant amount of our funding.
Bo often contributes the lead article for our free newsletter, 'A Little Good News,' which is sent three times per year
to approximately 50,000 readers. To get on our newsletter mailing list, just drop us a note or place an order for any of our materials.
Our store
features Bo's books, tapes, and CDs (including his classic We're
All Doing Time, which the Village Voice has called "one of the ten books
everyone in the world should read"), plus a few other little-known spiritual gems,
beautiful t-shirts, art,stained glass and other items. 100% of the proceeds from our
catalog go directly to support the work of Human Kindness Foundation.
Donations are always needed and welcomed,
and are fully tax-deductible. Many of the items in our catalog are sent free of charge to
prisoners, and to anyone else who genuinely can't afford them.
"In the midst of global crises such
as pollution, wars and famine, kindness may be too easily dismissed as a "soft"
issue, or a luxury to be addressed after the urgent problems are solved. But kindness is
the greatest need in all those areas -- kindness toward the environment, toward other
nations, toward the needs of people who are suffering. Until we reflect basic kindness in
everything we do, our political gestures will be fleeting and fragile.
