God's Grace in Recovery from Sexual Compulsive Behavior "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life" - Matthew 11:28 The Message Do you feel as if God has abandoned you to the sexual sin and sexual compulsive behavior in your life? Have you prayed and fasted countless times for God to remove this sexual sin only to find yourself continually repeating these compulsive behaviors? Is Sunday a religious routine where you feel you need to act as if you have it all together just to fit in? and where there is no room for brokenness? Where would you even begin to talk about your brokenness, and who would you talk to? The good news is this is NOT what Jesus has planned for your life. Jesus loves you just as you are, regardless of the stench of your sexual sins. The grace of Jesus does not call you to have it all together, or to be without problems, or to have a happy face on all the time. Although we may have questioned in the past prior to our journey toward recovery, we know that Jesus is essential to our recovery. What we cannot begin to understand is how he can love us so much despite the past we have lived. Let go of your pride and truly get away with Jesus to recover your life. Honesty & Healing Rarely are there men in the Naperville Freedom Group who put forth time and effort who do not recover; however there are the poor and unfortunate do not recover these are the men who refuse to get honest with themselves and others. The book of James in the Bible speaks to the power of this honesty in order to be healed. James 5:16 in the New International Version states, " Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." Eugene H. Peterson's contemporary paraphrase of this verse in The Message states, "Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed.
