Once the drilling finishesl, water will be easily accesable for the whole village. While villagers pay less than half of what they pay currently for water, the school receives a sustainable source of income to help pay for students' school costs. UPM and Heyang District Waterworks have donated RMB 300,000 and RMB 250,000 respectively. The villagers have also contributed RMB 200,000 to the project, as well as labor hours worth RMB 33,000. The drilling officially begun on December 20th, 2007. Pozhao village held a sensational opening ceremony attended by many villagers. Click for video clip. (more details...) UPM/Phelex Poplar Tree Farm in Qiaocun, Henan Province New  The Poplar Tree Farm aims at planting a large poplar tree forest in Qiaocun, Yichuan County in Henan Province. Within 5-6 years, the trees can be cut for profit to support the Qiaocun Elementary School's need. As a relatively long-term project, the forest will also be able to protect the environment. 600 teachers and students dug 2100 ground holes and applied fertilizer to prepare for polar tree planting in mid February2008 when winter was still cold. Beijing Yifan Co. provided technical guidance to the process.
