And it's been an international best seller ever since!When we look back on the 20th Century a few hundred years from now, I'm sure this is the date that will be known as the turning point for our civilization -- they day it started back up again after a steep decline.When you look around the world today you see insane men and women acting destructively: toward themselves, the people they care about and the world around them. You see greed and self interest destroying businesses, crashing the real estate market, wrecking the lives of millions. You see people starving to death in 3rd World Countries while those in the affluent West throw away far more food than it would take to save them all. L. Ron Hubbard's path to the founding of the Scientology religion began with certain discoveries he made in his research into the nature of man. He announced his findings in 1948 as "Dianetics," a word which means "through the soul" or what the spirit is doing to the body.
With Dianetics, Mr. Hubbard discovered a previously unknown and harmful part of the mind which contains recordings of past experiences of loss, pain and unconsciousness in the form of mental image pictures. These incidents of spiritual trauma are recorded along with all other experiences of one's life in sequential order on what Scientologists call the time track. I remember, before I got into Scientology, wishing I could recall my past lives. I would read books about people who could do so, and regarded them with awe.
But when I started to receive Dianetics auditing my own past became really clear to me.
I've also audited a lot of other people on Dianetics.
It is always an adventure, always surprising, what causes the problems we live with is never what you think they were, and when you get down to what really happened, no matter how bleak it may have seemed at first, it's always a relief, and usually quite funny! I remember my first broken heart. It took me years to get over it. And frankly, if it weren't for Dianetics, I don't know if I ever would have fully recovered from it.
But I can hardly conceive what the people of Java have had to come to grips with over the past two months. First a devastating earthquake that left 1.5 million homeless, then a tsunami that killed hundreds.
There is a team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Java who have been helping the emergency relief agencies there since the earthquake happened in May.
One thing they are doing is seminars in Dianetics techniques so people can help their families and neighbors overcome the loss they've experienced.
It's hard enough to pick up the pieces of your life after being hit with such a catastrophe. But to try to do so when you are suffering from the loss of people you loved....
