CThe Concept of Vegetarian Ethics
We now understand from what our ancient ancestors left us that life in prehistoric times must have been unimaginably harsh and bitter. Life for them was centred around killing to eat, there was usually no possibility that a vegetarian existence could ever have been attempted except at times when there was no game about but plenty of herbage. Perhaps as our brutish forefathers gathered around the camp fire and saw the luckless beast roasting on the spit no doubt one or two among them may have looked on occasionally with a little sadness, however to exist is all, and a compassionate lifestyle would definitely have to wait until the advent of reliable farming practices. Within the minds of humans there is always the awareness of our own fragile mortality, and in my experience those who never consider the sufferings of other beings seem to have a less than peaceful life and death themselves. From the earliest of times it was absolutely vital that humans devise all kinds of simple but effective weapons and traps to catch their prey as it was a necessity to kill to live back then, and no beast was ever too big, too strong or too fast to outwit humans, even such mighty animals as Mammoths were not safe, these were often cleverly driven to their deaths by skilfully stampeding and manoeuvrering them into plunging headlong into excavated pits, it seems then that our ancestors proved themselves not only top predators, but truly Kings of all the Beasts!..
Image above, Careg Samson, early Neolithic burial chamber Wales: The ancestors had no, choice you killed to eat or you died.
Archaeology tells us that the ancestors came from the east bringing with them the seeds of our present day civilisation, and as we acquired knowledge it spread and grew and many great philosophers spoke out in behalf of an emerging world shattering concept that we will now call Vegetarian Ethics.
Reaching back to around 2,500 years Pythagoras, later vegetarians like Seneca, and a multitude of other wisely compassionate humans advocated that the change to a compassionate vegetarian existence is the ideal way of life, one that would lead to the well being of a harmonious and reasoning human race. Vegetarian ethics is therefore unique in that it possesses the power to provide a beneficial knock-on effect toward all creation and embellish every facet of our own existence. The most enlightened of the ancients viewed ethical vegetarianism as the true destiny of the enlightened ones. If you have not done so already can we encourage you to consider the many fine reasons to set out on the road to pure vegetarianism (Veganism) and make a resolute decision to embrace its associated ethics as a cornerstone of your moral principles, this is arguably the most powerful lifestyle statement you will ever make, one which can have a beneficial knock on effect toward man and beast. Everyday there is an opportunity set before us, and philosophers like Pythagorus on the right knew that the compassionate way of life we now call Vegetarian Ethics would be not only the wisest, but also the happiest choice for man woman and child to take, one which actually costs us so very little, yet can bring into our lives contentment and joy beyond measure.
W I am in favour of animal rights as well human rights, that is the way of a whole human being.
Abraham Lincoln 16th US President
CUloves Vision of the Future
Ulove seeks to contact sincere people who would wholeheartedly accept vegetarian ethics as a part of the very foundation of their ethical belief, this powerful concept has been sadly overlooked or dismissed by governments for over two thousand years yet it now emerges at this potentially cataclysmic point in time as one of the most viable ways of helping us show appreciation to the creator for the gift of our life upon earth, and help us in our quest of restoring a healthy ecosystem.
Ulove outrightly condemns violent acts of animal rights extremism, and seeks to change human attitude toward non-human beings by reason, to the mutual benefit of all creatures and the environment, hoping that one day compassion and ethical conservation strategies will eventually prevail as the ultimate guiding philosophy of all enlightened humanity, this is in complete opposition to the present unnecessary and inhumane exploitation of animals and greedy use of the finite resources we humans extract from the earth, our gluttony of resources has proved too great a burden for the planet to bare..
One cannot refuse humans the right to eat meat, or a lion his right to eat humans!, however we do oppose the assumed right to breed animals into enforced captivity. We promote and further the recognition of the natural rights of all living beings to live out a free and truly wild existence as God or nature intended. We would hope that eventually the unnecessary captivity of animals will be outlawed.
C The Path of the Ethical Vegetarian.
We may not have realised it, but daily there is a choice set before us all, that of either unnecessarily murdering other living beings for food, or conversely choosing an alternative, but fully sustainable, and healthy food source, ( plants, nuts and seeds etc ), which research has shown, has much less of an impact on the ecosystem and which is a sound demonstration of true kindness as we walk through this world. The compassionate vegetarian choice of sustenance does not have to be bland, but can be incredibly tasty, nutritious, and very healthy for us too, "WOW", and all without causing any terror, pain, suffering or untimely death to any other fellow beings, who could ask for more?. Vegans, known also as strict or pure vegetarians abstain from all meat, dairy, eggs and fish products, and also avoid eating honey and royal jelly etc, they also do not wear clothing of animal origin e.g. fur and leather from all species. Now seeking all food and clothing from non-animal sources, this group of genuine pure vegetarians should daily strive to live by and promote these lofty principles.
CYou Will Benefit Personally !
Vegetarians may or may not have money, but at the end of the day, what they do have is of inestimable value “well deserved self respect“ which is a very precious and scarce commodity these days. This is achieved by caring deeply about the violation of the natural rights of other species which are enslaved, abused and slaughtered in farming and scientific practice today, and reap happiness from having a part in helping to abolish forever the exploitation of land and habitats upon which these creatures depend. In fact "we at ULOVE consider it a sacred duty to end such exploitation". Obviously there is also much suffering in nature itself, however that is in the jurisdiction of the creator to stop or to allow to carry on, we at Ulove view our task as helping to stop the unnecessary, and unnatural suffering. Acting humanely and with consideration toward the animals, the earth and our fellow humans is the mark of a truly enlightened human being, someone worthy of their place on this planet.
CVegetarianism Promotes Peace on Earth
“I am become death, the destroyer of worlds”
J.Robert Oppenheimer 1904-1967 Physicist
Father of the Atomic Bomb
In a harmonious non-violent pure vegetarian community the possibility of robbery and murder occuring would be drastically reduced, as would the result of such atrocities in the left image. It has been known for thousands of years that if mankind is to survive it must root out of its minds the very thought of committing unnecessary violence toward any living being, whether it be animal or human and help build a brave and enlightened new world.
Many have noticed that it should really have been religion itself that is in the forefront of spreading this concept, but most faiths have failed mankind miserably and have not directed their masses in ways of promoting peace, therefore the true spirit behind the teachings of the ancients must again make itself heard by other avenues and particularly so at this potentially cataclysmic time for the earth .
Vegans the pure vegetarians should be far more considerate of others. They are far more likely to pull together, embracing the true spirit behind environmental stewardship they therefore should never drop litter or wilfully pollute the land, and being true to themselves they should also strive be honest in all things. True peace and social harmony should therefore result from this, for as Jesus Christ once said “if you are faithful in the little things, you likewise be faithful in much“ and also “Blessed are the peaceable, for they shall see God”
As humankind continues to grow and learn the true meaning of compassion, and appreciate the intrinsic value of other species i.e. ( respect for other creatures, the earth, and humankind that is... ), then our governments would make great headway in solving the many social, national and global problems they have and which are at present out of control.
CImprove Your Health and Well-being!
With the explosion of diseases associated with, or exacerbated by eating meat products many people have now wisely made the choice to adopt for a pure vegetarian lifestyle. For nearly 2,500 years it has been documented that vegetarians enjoy better health and contentment than meat eaters and some research papers have deduced that on average they also tend enjoy a longer lifespan than they may have done on a diet that included meat.
By following a pure vegetarian lifestyle we never need worry about contracting mad-cow disease and Tuberculosis through our food, or for that matter the multitude of other horrendous ailments that are circulating, if we decide to bite the bullet and change our way of living then the sooner we start along the pure vegetarian path the better it will be for our health. Some though cannot help the fact that they may have a genetic weakness toward cancer or heart disease, numerous papers link a greater survival rate to vegetarians under such circumstances, and duly so “for they are worth it“. Who in their right mind does not value the precious gift of life that we have bestowed upon us, and does not want to enjoy it along with the best of health possible, the outstanding personal benefits of the diet and the ethics surrounding it can help you truly live life to the max.
CHelp Nurture the Natural Habitats and Ecosystem.
Do you have an opinion on the population explosion, the poisoning of the air, the polluting of the seas and our fresh water sources by humans ? Do you have concern about the use of pesticides on your food and its far reaching consequences on the food chain for others? Is there true reverence and awe within you for the forests, trees and the associated vegetation that helps regulate the climate and sustain our very lives, if the answer to this question is yes then to live by the principles of Vegetarian Ethics is your true destiny.
Your continued respect for other beings, the earth, and the associated vegetation that been put here to sustain the life processes will prove your appreciation, this is nothing new but a reawakening to a concept first recognized by the ancient ancestors and possibly implanted within us by the very force that created the planet itself to aid our survival at a possible time of cataclysm!. Mankind has foolishly exploited the earth to their own personal advantage and have not followed the vital principles of wise enviromental stewardship, neither have we limited our own population, but the human race has mushroomed in growth increased like some kind of dangerous and deadly plague over an already sickly earth. Following the principles of vegetarian ethics will cause us to expand no more into what little land other creatures have left to live in, and do our best to live an environmetally sustainable lifestyle, and it is only right and proper that humans also recognize the natural rights of much maligned creatures such as the Bear, Wolf, and Wild cattle and Boar to live in sufficient space as to support viable populations, such great changes will lead to an overall increase in biodiversity and could in fact be the turning point in helping to halt our deadly headlong plunge into environmental suicide.
C Act Humanely Toward All ?
Graphic images occur daily on our television screens of humans murdered on the streets of our cities, and they should fill any caring person with a hatred of violence. Why does the image of the murdered piglet on the left not move many of us to similar hatred of violence?… Because we humans are mentally conditioned to think nothing for animals executed for our food. On the day of its death the piglet never understood why humans who fed it would want to commit an act of violence toward it, however the message conveyed by its wide eyed screams would almost certainly be: “why are you doing this to me, leave me alone!“ It has been stated by numerous vegetarians going all the way back to the noted mathematician Pythagoras a founding father of vegetarianism, that while mankind continues to mercilessly slaughter other living beings for food, they will ultimately do so to their fellow humans. Because most of humankind have rejected this philosophy, social violence and deadly warfare remain as a present day “sword of Damocles” poised to cause pain sorrow and the eventual destruction of our own fragile species. Children would benefit if they were taught the difference between right and wrong with respect toward other beings from an early age, this would help to formulate their own moral and ethical principles at the earliest time. From infancy most children are taught to hunger for burgers and other such fast foods, and to give no consideration to just how much suffering was involved in providing them, let alone the environmetal impact in producing such dangerous food. It is now well recognized by a growing number that we will eventually be punished for a diet that lacks a vital ingredient "compassion", to an innocent child the detriment to their own health from fatty meaty foods seems a million light years away if they think anything at all, but sooner or later come it will almost certainy come by way of increased susceptability to heart disease or cancer.
CHelp Combat Global Warming by Vegetarianism.
It may seem madness to think that a pure vegetarian ( Vegan ) diet can help save the planet, however the facts in its support are truly amazing. To provide the billions of consumers with meat, vast numbers of creatures must be reared, meat is a very poor use of resources. For every pound of meat it takes 8-16lbs of grain to produce, vast qauntities of water and also fuel. The digestion of so much grain by animals produces enormous volume of flattulence (Methane ) which is responsible for about a third of the damage caused by greenhouse gases. As wild as it may seem the animals although powerless and unable to punish us in a physical sense are literaly burping and farting us into environmental disaster, they will of course have the last laugh!. The collosal volumes of meat required yearly by the consumer can only be provided at a great cost to the earth. To tread lightly upon the earth while taking from it food produced in an compassionate and environmentally friendly way could actually help reverse the destructive forces that mankind has foolishly put in motion.
Through our lack of humility, compassion and wise stewardship of the very environment that was entrusted to us we have proved ourselves to be largely destructive beings, beings caught in the act of literaly murdering the planet with our own hands to satisfy our own bellies. "Go Vegan" the pure vegetarian path that can change the world!.
CMake Vegetarian Ethics part of your Belief! U [ Z Y
If you belong to a religion then you have reached a momentous point in your life, a crossroads, the following information should help the sincere to take the right path. Have you yourself noticed that though many claim they have a religious belief they still defend with “fiery gusto” their right to take the life from another living creature without necessity?. Meat products can only be obtained by an act of violence and murder , thus rendering meaningless in their lives two of the foundation principles that they claim to uphold namely - Mercy and Compassion .
Therefore in this respect some religions prove themselves a sham, a fraud and an affront to common decency, sincere people are now standing up throughout the world to duly expose such religions for exactly what they are . Since the earliest of times the most ancient of religions acknowledged that the original seeding of mankind followed a pure vegetarian lifestyle, yet most of the religious people that I have talked to concerning this would in no way consider living as humans according to the original Edenic diet ( Pure Vegetarianism ). Some people conversely may be Atheist and hold to no belief in a literal God or in the original Edenic diet whatsoever, yet they may have found good reason to become Vegetarians or Vegans for the sound ethical and moral reasons, these too are pursuing what is commendable in life.
There are literally billions of people who claim to believe in a creator, whether one God, three, or many, but in reality nobody can prove that any ancient belief is truth, one can only have faith that it is so!. There is though one unquestionable truth that can be established , that “Suffering is Real“ and in this world animals have suffered far more than humans. Sadly many religions have been at the forefront in perpetuating suffering even among themselves by warfare and other atrocities yet they have not heeded most of earths ancient holy books which in fact teach us to aspire to peace, and they even go on to prophecy the end of violence, is this the very time period that the ancestors talked about?.
Whatever your religion is though, there is one unifying factor that will benefit every faith under the sun, and help us achieve a harmonious balance with all things by adherence to the superior values as set forth in the principles concerning Vegetarian Ethics and furthering the natural rights of all beings, and not just humans!, every facet of of this way of life works unselfishly toward the end of unnecessary suffering and exploitation of all beings, through enlightened system of environmental stewardship .
CSpread the Concept of Vegetarian Ethics throughout the Universe!
The noted cosmologist Stephen Hawking stated recently that our future lies in the stars, however what will mankind take to the cosmos except exploitation, pollution, and destruction. Space stands ready to be invaded and eventually populated by our increasingly violent society that carries on the wilful and unnecessary murder of unfortunate non-human fellow beings, let alone the mass murder of our own kind. If as Hawking suggests our future is indeed in the stars, star travellers may one day come across extraterrestrials that are more advanced than us, and they may very well view humankind as the greatest potential threat to the universe that exists, and seek to destroy us as some would a dangerous insect, the population of which has exploded and advanced into their living space. However as mankind continues in its epic journey throughout the universe we hope that they will take with them, not the flag of a country but the very cornerstone of humanity (peace, respect, and no harm toward other beings ). If future humans survive they will without doubt be vegetarian just as the ancients foretold that they would, and will indeed look back on our generation as a species of highly intelligent morons, bent on perpetuating a world of woeful unenlightened savagery in the utter denial of the natural rights of other less powerful creatures, while all the time amassing great personal wealth through unnecessary exploitation and scientific animal research. Let us petition for compassionate changes within society, and recognize the natural rights of others now. It was foreseen that in the future anyone who wilfully subjects any creature to violence or kills without necessity will be judged appropriately.
If you can appreciate the clear benefits of living a life according to the principles of vegetarian ethics, if you are moved and believe that you have indeed found something good within these principles we promote, then don’t keep it to yourself, share such sentiments with friends and family, but be prepared as many meat eaters defend their lifestyle rigorously to say the least, but say your piece (light the blue paper ), stand back and gauge their reaction (watch the fireworks).
Remember you are not alone, the quotations used throughout this site are from statements made during the lives of some of the most noble and famous people who have ever walked upon the earth. These were not foolish people but heartfelt thinkers, who truly lived according to what they believed. Let us join together earth wide in the same spirit.
You can be one of those in the forefront of making this a better world for future generations of animals and humans to inherit.
