An Unsolicited Post Was feeling an emotion that I can't describe about not having blogged for time immemorial until I read Charlie's post from the beginning of this month. Our reasons differ - but that's not the point. I suspect the feelings are much the same. For me a sort of "I've let you down" feeling. Well I changed jobs some months back and threw myself wholeheartedly into the change - because I'm like that. And the break has done me good. I've spent more time with my family, more time reading, and more time being. Here are some things I've decided:1. If I review anything here it's going to be unsolicited. Unless I really, really wanted to read, listen to, or use it in the first place. I am still getting emails from people wanting me to review books I wouldn't spend five minutes on in a bookstore, and still getting emails from people I've never heard of wanting me to link their blog. But that goes to number 2 below.2. If you don't read my blog don't ask me to link yours. In particular, don't send me emails pretending that you read and like my blog when you only visited it once to get an addy to send your link request to. Let's just say that I have a sitemeter and I can see when you came and how within two minutes of landing you emailed me gushing about how you love reading my blog and could I link you. I still get emails like this. 3. I started a blog because I could write as little or as much as I want whenever I want. I write more when I remember that, and less when I get conscious of the "reading public". At this point that probably will be about 5 people due to my absence, and this paradoxically makes me grin and feel really very happy. I love all five of you. That's enough for today. Coming up expect to hear about Amy Winehouse, my cats, my latest gadget, and whatever else. And the President of Sudan has been accused of war crimes. That's long overdue.Labels: General and Blogging posted by Catez at 7/21/2008

Child That Mind and Way Give Comes a time when one must set the rest of the world right side up. Hence the photo. I'm going to be travelling to stay with relatives and visit some beaches further up the island on the East coast, so I'll be away for a few days. I will come across some more of our road signs on the way. It seems that people read things from the bottom upwards. (Who knew?)This is a standard feature of life here, with my favourite piece of abstract road signage being CHILD THAT MIND - seen mostly outside schools, play centres, and kid venues. I think the person who first thought this up was really creating a subliminal message about having a child-like wonder as we travel through this world (but keep inside the white line as you go and speed that watch). We drive, as all normal folk do, on the left. I put aside the slightly controversial post I had planned for today (wot, no controversy?) since I will be away for a bit. Yes, I know I was away for a few months but I am back now and this week has been a blogging warm up. I've caught up with a few blogs already and have thoroughly enjoyed them. I hope to take some photos up on the West Coast - the surf is great there. This photo was taken across from a park not far from where I live. That's how it is living at the top of the world. You learn to way give things. It's easier to do if you child that mind.Labels: New Zealand posted by Catez at 1/09/2008 © Copyright Catez Stevens. Powered by Blogger
