Labour Behind the Label supports garment workers' efforts worldwide to defend their rights. We educate consumers, lobby companies and government, raise awareness, and encourage international solidarity with workers. We coordinate the UK platform of the international Clean Clothes Campaign.  

Tell Primark not to cut and run

Labour Behind the Label is calling on Primark to reverse its decision to cut and run from three Indian suppliers in advance of a BBC Panorama investigation. Panorama has reportedly uncovered the widespread use of subcontracting in the manufacture of embroidered goods, including the employment of home workers under extremely bad conditions and possible instances of child labour. Update on China Earthquake: Response from UK Brands

On 28th May 2008, Labour Behind the Label sent a letter to over 15 UK brands asking what steps they were taking to ensure Chinese migrant workers at their supplier factories, whose families may have been affected by the May earthquake, were being granted compassionate leave and assistance. These included Arcadia, Asda Walmart, Primark, M&S and Tesco. Only three companies, Primark, M&S and Next, responded. Read more: Update on China Earthquake: Response from UK Brands    

Sportswear industry shamed by new allegations on working conditions

Just four months before the Olympic baton is passed from Beijing to London, the Playfair2008 alliance (supported by the TUC and Labour behind the label) has released a damning, name-and-shame indictment of factory working conditions in the sports wear industry.
