The Busy Person's Guide to Activism
Posted By Brooke Shelby Biggs on October 7, 2008
Topic : Activism
The global markets are in free-fall, and the contentious presidential election in the United States now stands as one of the most important events in our near future. So, for our friends in the U.S. (and their friends elsewhere) we thought we'd share a handy guide to how to be an effective political activist in this crucial moment in history.

The Truth About Warming
Posted By Brooke Shelby Biggs on October 6, 2008
Topic : Global Warming
Anita always said that the first step to becoming an effective activist (well, after establishing a passionate willingness) is to get informed. With the American candidates clearly unwilling to discuss human impacts on climate change, we need an army of informed activists on this issue to challenge their leaders worldwide. Please watch the remarkably simple but effective video (after the jump) about of the feedback loops that are pushing the planet to its tipping point. Say No to 42 Days
Posted By Brooke Shelby Biggs on September 30, 2008
Topic : Human_rights

Based on little or no evidence, police could lock up UK citizens without even charging them with a crime. This is a flagrant offence to our essential civil liberties. Please join us and Amnesty International in signing a petition opposing this offensive measure.

Battle in Seattle, the Movie
Posted By Brooke Shelby Biggs on September 16, 2008
Topic : Globalization
This week the film "Battle in Seattle" debuts in select cities. The film dramatically recounts the WTO protests in Seattle in 1999, where Anita was notably the only corporate executive to be tear-gassed along with other fair-trade activists. In today's Huffington Post, director Stuart Townsend discusses how his film, which stars her friend Woody Harrelson as well as Charlize Theron and Ray Liotta, was inspired by Anita and her book "Take It Personally".
