Remember, all the information you find will not always be 100% reliable.  Also, consider that some information may have been interpreted and reworded depending on the writer’s (or site’s) perspective.  Government Agency run sites are usually very concrete in their approach and are more “black & white” than privately run sites.   Sometimes privately run sites will try to sell you something along with the free information they provide.  Each person must weigh the reliability of the site on their own before purchasing any online items. I have listed the sites in order of what I have found most helpful. If you discover a problem with a site, or wish to suggest adding a site, please let me know.             Services & Research Links    ^ Back to the top         •   New York State Education Department Website http://www.nysed.gov/   •   VESID - Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities. http://www.vesid.nysed.gov/   •   Exceptional Parent magazine website, focuses on caregivers, includes toys, technology, transportation, etc. http://www.eparent.com/   •   National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities – INCLUDES IEP GUIDES http://www.nichcy.org/index.html   •   Search State Databases for variety of information, including licensed therapists http://www.searchsystems.net/   •   OMRDD's Mission is to coordinate and provide services for people with developmental disabilities and their families and to conduct research into the causes and prevention of developmental disabilities. http://www.omr.state.ny.us/   •   NYC Department of Education Web Site http://www.nycenet.edu/   •   United States Department of Education Web Site http://ed.gov/index.jsp   •   On line links to hundreds of information resources, including phone numbers, encyclopedias, magazine articles, etc http://www.refdesk.com/   •   Use for contacting local, state and federal elected officials and obtaining access to laws http://firstgov.com/   •   Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association – Many Links and Free Publications about disability related issues http://www.epva.org/   •   NYC BOARD OF EDUCATION SITE http://www.nycenet.edu/   •   NYC BOARD OF EDUCATION  - RELATED SERVICE PROVIDER LISTS http://www.nycenet.edu/offices/spss/dlst.asp   •   The IDEA Partnerships, working together for five years, inform professionals, families and the public about IDEA '97 and strategies to improve educational results for children and youth with disabilities http://www.ideapractices.org/   •   United Cerebral Palsy Site – Links and resources for CP and related issues http://www.ucpa.org/main.cfm/112   •   References of use to people doing Federal Legal Research http://www.thecre.com/fedlaw/default.htm   •   State & Federal Codes http://www.findlaw.com/   •   Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSERS/OSEP/   •   Information for younger children http://www.zerotothree.org/   •   The Educational Resource Information Center Database of Articles and Studies relating to education http://www.ericeece.org/   •   National Center for the Dissemination of Disability Research http://www.ncddr.org/   •   Links of New York State Resources http://www.disabilityresources.org/NEW-YORK.html   •   Links of New York State Resources http://www.fetaweb.com/help/ny.htm   •   Mission is to free all law abiding people with disabilities from institutions to live in the community. http://www.freedomclearinghouse.org/   •   Association for the Help of Retarded Children http://www.ahrcnyc.org/   •   ADA information and compliance site.
