Toastmasters District 52 Welcomes You Michelle Gilstrap, DTM District Governor 2008-2009 Welcome to District 52!Our District is committed to bringing Toastmasters Leadership and Communication skills to everyone who would like to start a club within downtown Los Angeles and the greater San Fernando Valley. Toastmasters: Courageous Devotion is my theme for this year. The theme emphasizes the courage each person has to change their lives through the Toastmaster program and their devotion to helping others as leaders in our District. This website will contain important District information for each of you in the District to improve yourself and your club so you can be a Distinguished Club reaching for the 10 goals in the Distinguished Club Program (DCP). Once again we will be doing the "Race to President's Distinguished" to help each club work on those 10 (DCP) goals. The first goal is to have 4 officers trained, so attend officer training sponsored by the District or by a Division to ensure your officers has the information to do a good job for the club. Look for information in the District Newsletter and sign-up to receive the District emails See the link & add yourself to the email service. This is a vital link to keep all of you informed, but it is only as good as those who sign up to receive the information. I encourage you to go for at least One Educational Award this year, and One Leadership Award. Imagine if each of us went for one plus one, we would achieve greater results in our professional and our personal lives as we increase our communication and leadership skills. Finally, if you work for a company that has at least 300 employees and you would like to have a Toastmasters Club there, contact Carolyn Goldman, Lt. Governor of Marketing, She can help you start a new club and you can help get credit as a sponsor or mentor. We have a great team this year, and I'm proud of everyone who has stepped up to help our clubs. Let's "Race to President's Distinguished" by showing our "Courageous Devotion" Sincerely, Michelle Gilstrap, DTM District 52 Governor 2008 - 2009 Toastmasters: Courageous Devotion Thanks to Toastmasters, when I lost my job, those in my club knew of my skills and I was able to find freelance work at first, and eventually a full time job using my speaking skills! -- E. Mitch had created a wonderful logo for Ed Bernard when I was the Lt. Governor of Marketing, and I remembered how talented he was, so when I was faced with the same issue, I called on Mitch and he came thru with flying-colors.
