Paula M. Sabo, Area 3 Governor, is encouraging officers to come to the make-up training session, enjoy dinner with fellow Toastmasters, and your first Area Council meeting for the 2008-2009 year.
Visitors are welcome. If you are a Toastmaster, but not an officer, come see what your officers are learning. In addition, if your were at TLI, you are welcome to come and help your fellow officers in Area 3 learn from your experiences. This is a great opportunity for all five clubs officers to meet each other, learn from each other and develop a new network of support.
If you plan to attend, please contact Paula M. Sabo at Area 3 Make-up Training before July 25 so reservations can be completed.

I had the honor of accompanying Charlie Wilson to his interview on KDKA's Pittsburgh TODAY live. With the help of fellow Toastmaster Rebecca Lamperski, we secured an interview for Charlie to discuss his career as a Toastmaster including his recent win at the Region VI Conference in Ottawa and his journey to the World Championship of Public Speaking.

Charlie's message to District 13:
I would like to thank the 15 clubs and over 100 individual Toastmasters who helped me so much with my speech for the Regional contest in Ottawa on June 7. Because of you, the final speech was significantly better than the one I started with right after the District contest.
In fact, there ended up being 15 versions of the speech, with a new one being written after each club visit. A DVD is being prepared of the speech contest and some time soon I would like to present a workshop on the evolution of a contest speech using that DVD so that each of you can see where your contribution fit in.
I will be asking your help again as I prepare for the World Championship contest in Calgary on August 16.
The Toastmasters of District 13 are the greatest in the organization. Your critiques, suggestions, and support were invaluable. I intend to make you proud in Calgary.
