Misión Permanente de la Rep. Argentina ante las Naciones Unidas               Palabras de bienvenida del Sr. Representante Permanente: Bienvenidos a la página de la Misión Permanente de la República Argentina ante las Naciones Unidas, delegación del Gobierno Nacional encargada de la representación de los intereses nacionales en el ámbito multilateral. Las Naciones Unidas constituye la iniciativa de convivencia pacífica más comprehensiva y completa emprendida en la historia de la humanidad. La República Argentina, uno de los 51 Estados Miembros Fundadores de la Organización, registra desde entonces una participación activa en todos los Órganos y Programas del Sistema, en el marco de la política exterior nacional, dirigida a construir consensos en el ámbito internacionalo rientados al fortalecimiento del derecho internacional, la promoción de los valores universales asociados a la paz y a la seguridad, la democracia representativa y el respeto y promoción de los derechos humanos.  Así, con un rol dinámico y constructivo, la República Argentina ha venido reafirmando su adhesión a los propósitos y principios que animan a las Naciones Unidas, con el objetivo de contribuir de manera concreta al logro de los propósitos de la Organización tanto en favor de la paz y la seguridad internacional como en la promoción del desarrollo social y económico de todos los pueblos. La República Argentina juega un papel relevante en el proceso de fortalecimiento del multilateralismo, elemento inseparable de la seguridad, para así dar respuesta efectiva a nuevas amenazas y desafíos. En este sentido, fue electa como Miembro no permanente del Consejo de Seguridad para el período 2005-2006 en las elecciones realizadas el pasado 15 de octubre, durante el 59 Período de Sesiones de la Asamblea General. Con la meta de trabajar mancomunadamente a favor de decisiones unánimes, la República Argentina ha establecido una serie de prioridades para su mandato, para así poder construir en conjunto el ideal de un mundo más seguro. Esperamos que la información de esta página sea de utilidad, y que el recorrido a través de ella permita comprender la importancia de la Organización para la Argentina, al igual que las contribuciones que realiza nuestro país en todas las cuestiones de la agenda internacional.
