Twin Cities Workplace Spirituality - Hill Cities - Workplace Ministry   The Opportunity George Gallup, in his book "The Next American Spirituality," stated that "82% of American Adults" are concerned about their spiritual life. The book "The Purpose Driven Life," by Rick Warren, which sold 30 million copies in 4 years, reveals this spiritual thirst of our culture. Pollster George Barna, found that Americans desire to have a work life that goes beyond a paycheck, they want meaning and purpose in their work. They also, with peers, want to connect around life's bigger issues and spirituality. Steven Covey, author of Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, has understood this opportunity and now has written a book, "The Eighth Habit." Covey's "Eighth Habit" is spirituality! Hill Cities is positioned effectively in the workplace to meet these pressing spiritual and eternal desires.  Upcoming Speaking Event  Jeff Hagen will be speaking at a May 15, 2007 event titled "The Art of Integrating Faith and Work". See more information >> Noon Hour Discussion Groups We create the opportunity for spiritual discussions in the workplace. A response received from one of these discussions reveals the need, "I am so empty and I want to get full, I think God has something to do with this." In developing this model over the last four years we have seen the effectiveness of this discussion approach. With the Baby Boom and Buster Generation coming of age, the present insecurity of the world we live in and the fact that "God has put eternity in the hearts of all people," a great hunger for discussions of significance is now present. How these work? > > Marketplace Gatherings Jeff Hagen cast the vision for another strategy called, "Marketplace Gathering," to Joe Senser, owner of Joe Senser's Grill and Bar, in March of 2003. We now have a core group of about 50 people who come every Thursday morning to Joe's Bloomington location. They are learning to connect deeply with Christ and each other. We are raising up according to I Peter 2:5, "a spiritual house" in the workplace. The purpose of our "Gathering" is to help see Christians in the marketplace become equipped with vision, skills and a servant's heart. They will then go into their workplace and effectively create environments where spiritual things are discussed openly, and those interested in Christ are given that opportunity.
