American Baptist Churches National Hispanic Caucus
 The
American Baptist National Hispanic Caucus is the group of Hispanic
persons that comes together in a meeting during the American Baptist
Biennials. This is where caucus officers are elected. That is,
the president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary. The seven
regions of the caucus elect one representative in one of their
meetings, which together with the officers, form the caucus executive
committee. The executive committee takes the caucus' place when
the caucus is not in session.
The caucus is the Hispanic
national organism within the American Baptist Churches, USA. Composed
and administered by Hispanics, the caucus represents the interests
of Hispanics at national and regional levels. It is the legitimate
organism, recognized by the denomination, that represents Hispanics.
It is the voice heard in denominational circles. At times it advocates
for the betterment and progress of American
Baptist Hispanic people and churches. This is done when recommending
the creation or improvement of programs and services that are
beneficial to Hispanics. At other times the caucus confronts in
relation to justice or equality issues. This is done when injustice
or lack of sensitivity is perceived relative to issues and concerns
that affect Hispanics. In other cases, input or advice is given
in order to bring inclusiveness and representation in boards,
committees and denominational positions.
