Special benefits for Seniors
Sixty or over? Want to take a course or courses in the University of
Virginia's School of Continuing Education? You can enroll to audit courses
tuition free--you have to wait until three days prior to the start
of the semester (to give the paying customers first crack); been a legally
domiciled resident of the state for at least one year; and then you can
sign up on a space-available basis.
And, if your taxable income in the previous year did not exceed $15,000,
you can take courses for credit and still not pay tuition. In either case,
you need to obtain the instructor's OK, and you have to register for the
course.

George Loper's Home Page a Winner
Some of you may recall C-Ville Weekly's
review of my web site in August of 1998.
This was followed up in February 2000 by then-editor Hawes Spencer with
"Fight site - Dems dialogue on"
and "Best
of Charlottesville 2000 in July 2000."
Now, C-Ville Weekly's Paul Fain has come back round again, declaring,
"When a noteworthy statement is made in Charlottesville, it likely
lands on Loper's site - and stays there."
*******
Jeff Peyton,
former publisher of The Observer, said this about the web site:
"I have to say that I admire your website. If conservatives were
even 10% as effective at getting out their message, I'd be 100% happier!
Jeff Peyton (electronic mail, January 9, 2000).
New
editor, Ron Hasson, notes the following:
To visit this site is like taking a pilgrimage to the Oracle -- information
and enlightenment without the spin of an earthly intermediary (and without
all the bugs and sweating from outdoor overexertion). The huddled masses
never had it so good.
Ron Hasson (electronic mail, April 10, 2003)
*******
"This is the best website about Charlottesville, hands down, no
question about it. You write about things that no local publication dares
mention. Without the George Lopers of the world, our country would be one
step farther away from being a true democracy."
Waldo Jaquith (electronic mail, April 9, 2001).
*******
Daily Progress reporter
Bob Gibson
calls "political webroaster" George Loper's home page "perhaps
the premier
Democratic web site in Virginia."
*******
David
Manning calls George Loper's Home Page "This year's hottest new
star!"
*******
Local theater critic Clare Aukofer calls George Loper's
home page "Theater at its best -- interactive, thought provoking,
artistic and entertaining."
*******
First mention of George Loper's web site in a book: A Mule
Yule by Barney Day,
2003.
