Fix Up Your House This Fall... And Help Us Fix Up Ours
It's time to prepare the house for winter - and if you're like most of us, that means raking, clearing gutters, and generally cleaning out clutter. Great news! In the process, you can help RMHC-CNI raise money to help seriously ill children and their families.
Just gather your scrap metal - cans, pipes, doors, furniture, obsolete equipment, you name it - and bring it to our generous recycling partner, United Scrap Metal, Saturday, October 18, when they will be holding their Annual Recycle With Ronald event. It's a win-win-win! You reduce clutter, United Scrap Metal recycles the metal for reuse, and they donate the market value of the metal to the charity. In fact, they hope to beat last year's donation of more than $30,000, so please come help them make it happen! It's an event for the whole family: enjoy food, fascinating recycling facility tours and a visit with Ronald McDonald, himself! Click here for more information.
Fixing Up Our House
And speaking of fixing up Houses, we're in the "home" stretch for our "home away from home" near Advocate Hope Children's Hospital, which is scheduled to open at the end of this year. Click here for the latest photos of our own "Fall Fixup!"
The front of the new RMH near Advocate Hope Children's Hospital. The new House will serve as a "home away from home" for 16 families of children being treated at the hospital every night. Designed with a "house in the woods" theme, the building features extended stay suites, wooded trails and a wheelchair accessible tree house for kids of all ages.
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC-CNI) operates 4 Ronald McDonald Houses to provide a "home away from home" for families of children receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital, as well as a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® clinic that provides affordable medical treatment to at-risk children and a Scholarship Program to help local youth fulfill their educational goals.
