Pennsylvania’s
Deer Chronicles
Recognized as the state
animal since 1959, the white-tailed deer can be found from our most
remote forests to our most developed cities. Because so many different
people are affected by deer, differences of opinion are the common.
Although the deer program cannot guarantee personal satisfaction for all
people, the Game Commission manages white-tailed deer as attentively,
responsibly and responsively as possible.
Pennsylvania's
deer program is guided by biological and social goals. Hunters,
homeowners, farmers, municipal officials, foresters and others helped
establish the Game Commission's deer management goals. These goals focus
on the impacts of deer on themselves, habitat and other wildlife, and
people. This work, which is never-ending, aims to balance different
points of view, so the greatest good can be achieved for all of Pennsylvania's
wildlife and citizens for today and tomorrow.

(Rockview Property) Updated
10-01-08
Rep. Hanna amended his bill (HB 1657)
on to SB 740, which has passed the Senate.
Hanna’s amendment was voted on in the House State
Government Committee and could be voted on by the full House floor as any
day. As amended, SB 740 will give ownership of almost 1,200 Acres of
pristine Spring Creek Canyon
property to Penn
State for Agriculture
Use & Research. We oppose this
transfer, and instead support ownership of the land going to the PGC. Rep. Benningholf
has an amendment that will allow the land to be purchased by the PGC &
PFBC using the escrow money from the SGL 176 Toft
Trees property that Penn
State ruined. Read PFSC’s testimony and other comments
& info to learn why we support the property going to the PGC and what
you can still do to try to stop this land steal.

Insurance Program for PFSC Affiliated Clubs
A new insurance program, with the Pennsylvania
Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs (PFSC) named as the primary insured, is now
available to all member clubs of the PFSC.
The program is underwritten by National Casualty, an A rated and
admitted company, and administered by K&K Underwriters in conjunction
with Douglas Insurance Services.
The policy provides:
$ 1,000,000 of liability coverage per occurrence, with no general
aggregate
Provisions for premises medical payments without regard to legal
liability
Fire damage legal liability
Minimum premium is $375 per club
All clubs are
individually underwritten. Premiums prove to be very competitive, and
through this admitted insurance company, the excess lines tax (stamping
fees) do not apply.
Property coverage is also available
through Mutual Benefit Insurance Company and Douglas Insurance Service.
Mutual Benefit Insurance Company is an A+ rated company, domiciled in
Huntingdon, PA.
A completed enrollment form and
additional documentation is required. More information and Enrollment
forms can be obtained by calling Mike Douglas at 1-800-722-9990 or emailing
your request to douglas3@zoominternet.net
