When
someone you love becomes a memory,
The memory becomes a treasure!
Amber Lynn Cash was my granddaughter and my best friend! She
lived a short, but meaningful life that blessed all who knew
her, especially me (Nana Margie). When she was born, I taught
her that I was "Grandma;" but when baby brother Jacob came along
two years later, he changed my name to "Nana." Amber didn't care
because she was never able to speak my name (or anyone's name). She couldn't talk, walk, crawl, or even sit up,
unassisted; but, she was the most inspiring person I ever knew!
Amber's favorite past time was watching
VeggieTales™
videos, and her favorite video was
Jonah — a VeggieTales Movie.
Because of her
disabilities, Amber found pleasure in the simple things of life:
colorful lights, funny sounds, a gentle breeze across her face on a warm day,
and sunshine. Sometimes when the sun hit her face, she'd look up
to the heavens and smile as if an angel had brushed her cheek
with his wing. When we were alone, I would often lie down beside
Amber and talk to her and tell her how much I loved her and how
proud I was of her! She tried so hard to do the things her body
wouldn't let her do. She would often lie on the floor in front
of the TV for hours watching videos and doing abdominal crunches
(trying to sit up!). And, she would kick her feet with the
ferocity of an Olympic swimmer (once, while I was on my knees
changing her diaper, she kicked me in the jaw and almost knocked
me out!). And, several times before her death, she defied the
odds (and gravity) and raised herself up on onto her knees,
unassisted.
As her family,
we never gave up hope that Amber would be healed of her physical
afflictions; but, we also prayed that we could somehow protect
our beautiful little girl, who couldn't speak or defend herself,
from the ravages of this sinful world. In His wisdom, God chose
to take Amber to Heaven, to give her a glorified and perfect
body, and to place her Safe in the Arms of Jesus! We will always
miss Amber, but we rejoice that she is with The Lord in Heaven, and
we thank
Him for redeeming her from the grave through the blood of Jesus
Christ.
This website is
dedicated to the memory and legacy of Amber Lynn Cash, born
August 05, 1998, and Safe in the Arms of Jesus on July 7, 2003.

"I'll lend you for a little while,
a child of mine" God said,
"for you to love the while she lives,
and mourn for when she's dead.
It may be two or three short years,
or twenty-two or three,
but will you, till I call her back,
take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
and should her stay be brief,
you'll have her lovely memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth return,
but there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world
over
in my search for teacher's true,
and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your
love?
Nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to call,
to take her back again?"
God fancied he heard the parent's say,
"Dear Lord, thy will be done.
For all the joy the child shall bring,
the risk of grief I'll run.
I'll shelter her with tenderness,
I'll love her while I may,
and for the happiness I've known
forever grateful I'll stay.
But should the angels call for her,
much sooner than I planned,
I'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand."
