Zgodba o« Belem golobu« sega v leto 1999, ko je Gianni bil gost na mednarodnem zabavnoglasbenem festivalu FORTE '99 v Sarajevu (Bosna in Hercegovina). Glasbenik se je srečal z žrtvami min in videl je kakšne so lahko posledice vojne. Prizadeli so ga otroci, nedolžna, nebogljena bitja, ki so postali žrtve min. Odločil se je napisati pesem, ki bo na svet prinesla mir, ki bo ŠIRILA IDEJO O MIRU V SVETU!
Idejo za besedilo je Gianniju dal bivši predsednik ZDA g. Bill Clinton, ki je bil tedaj na obisku v Sloveniji. Državljanom je na osrednjem trgu v Ljubljani govoril o Zdravljici, pesmi največjega slovenskega pesnika dr. Franceta Prešerna (1800-1849), kot o pesmi, ki naj na svet prinese srečo, mir in bratstvo med narodi. Njen značilni verz "Ne vrag le sosed naj bo mejak" je tako postal osrednja misel nastajajočega projekta. Gianni je napisal glasbo in dodal refren:
Bel' golob naj poleti v nebo,
o miru in sreči pesmi naj pojo,
z roko v roki se meje podro,
ne vrag, le sosed naj bo mejak!
Rodila se je pesem Beli golob - univerzalna himnična pesem miru. K sodelovanju je povabil še nekatere popularne evropske pevce in nastal je EVROPSKI BAND AID, ki ga sestavljajo: Toto Cutugno (Italija), Waterloo&Robinson (Avstrija), Helena Vondrackova (Češka), Fernando Pereira (Portugalska), Petar Grašo (Hrvaška), Alexis (Nemčija), gostje iz ZDA legendarna skupina The Platters in avtor glasbe in projekta Gianni Rijavec (Slovenija).
Beli golob torej v izvedbi EVROPSKEGA BAND AIDA. Glasbeniki pojejo pesem tako, da vsak od njih zapoje del kitice, refren pa, kot zbor vsi skupaj. Giannijeva ideja je Band Aid iz leta v leto povečevati- širiti. Nenehno navezuje stike z novimi glasbeniki po vsem svetu, kajti Beli golob mora postati svetovna himna miru!
Kdo bo naslednji glasbenik, ki bo postal član Band Aida? Vsekakor zveneče dobro-misleče ime iz svetovne zabavnoglasbene scene. Imate koga v mislih? Pišite in predlagajte.
Pesem naj združi narode in mir naj zavlada na svetu!
Beli golob leti vse višje in vse dlje. Podporo so mu izrekli različni eminentni ljudje po vsem svetu. Prvi častni pokrovitelj je bil bivši predsednik države Slovenije g. Milan Kučan.
Podporo sta izrekla tudi slovenska nogometna zvezdnika Zlatko Zahovič in Miran Pavlin in nekdanji dirkač formule 1 Rene Arnoux.
Dogodek, ki je Belega goloba ponesel v višave pa je gotovo osebni sprejem Giannia Rijavca pri papežu Janezu Pavlu II. V Vatikanu, 11.12.2002. Papež je projekt blagoslovil in Gianni mu je izročil porcelanastega belega goloba - simbol projekta in mednarodne fundacije Beli golob. Papež je dobil golobčka z zaporedno številko ena in tako postal ambasador miru. Porcelanasti relief - zaščitni znak je delo umetnika Iva Kisovca. V petek, 13.12.2002 pa je imel Gianni Rijavec samostojni koncert za vatikanski diplomatski zbor, kjer je v živo ob spremljavi klavirja predstavil
pesem Beli golob.
Pred odhodom v Vatikan je Gianni skupaj s somišljeniki ustanovil mednarodno glasbeno-mirovniško fundacijo Beli golob
Drugega porcelanastega belega golobčka je prejel vodja tibetanskih budistov Dalaj Lama. Giannija Rijavca je osebno sprejel 28.10.2003 v Dhalamshari v Indiji.
Zgodba o Belem golobu se nadaljuje iz dneva v dan!
Beli golob torej leti, trosi mir po svetu in pridobiva vse več somišljenikov!
