 October 22, 2008 details A Message from the President Our Fall Kickoff was really fun! Jana Polsky invited Rosanna Scotto from Fox 5 to be our guest speaker. Talk about timing! Rosanna has just started as a morning anchor on Good Day New York! She has terrific professional insight which she shared with great humor! Please take a look at the photos! At the Fall Kickoff, we asked if members would like to help out on the Committees. You are the backbone of AWRT New York and your input on the committees will make AWRT more relevant to our members! The Committees we'd love your help on are Membership, Programming/ Events, The Audrey Tanzer Scholarship Fund and the Audrey Tanzer Scholarship Silent Auction. Just email at dfarley@dial-global.com and I'll send your name to the Committee Chair. Our next event will be an interactive workshop called Self Promotion In A Changing World. Jim Arnoff who is a Certified Life Coach will host this event. He'll speak for a half hour and then let us break into small groups where we can learn how to maximize our assets to grow our careers. This event will be held In the 21st floor conference room at Katz, 125 West 55th Street on October 22nd from 6:30 -8:30 at Katz. I hope you can join us! We are here to serve you. Local businesses sponsor AWRT NYC to show their support for women's issues and advancement in the media industry. As sponsors, companies receive recognition in all AWRT news releases and media events, as well as ad space in select AWRT publications, programs, and events. AWRT NYC has been recognized by its national parent organization through its receipt of several AWRT National BELL ("Bringing Excellence to the Local Level") Awards for our Programming, Fundraising and Public Relations. Established in 1951, AWRT is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the impact of women in electronic media and related fields. AWRT has local chapters throughout the United States that promote the advancement and impact of women in electronic media and relate fields by educating, advocating, and acting as a resource for members in the industry. As a national organization, AWRT takes positions on policy issues of importance to women.
