Ferocious Beauty: Genome

Shane Green was kind enough to write to us about Ferocious Beauty: Genome, from the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, presented by the Ontario Genomics Institute:
Inspired by the mapping of the human genome, Ferocious Beauty: Genome is the result of a rare and unique collaboration between artists, educators and scientists, which explores genetic research and its impact on society. The Chicago Sun-Times called it “beautiful, richly imaginative, hugely ambitious… captivating, surprisingly funny, intensely moving, thought provoking…should not be missed by anyone fascinated by the intersection of science and art, or by the morally challenging issues now in play in the field of genetics.”
The show runs September 27th to the 29th at 8:00 PM at the Premiere Dance Theatre, Harbourfront Centre. The address is 207 Queen’s Quay West, 3rd Floor, in Toronto.
In addition, the creator of Ferocious Beauty: Genome, Liz Lerman, and a dancer from her company will be among the panelists for a free public forum The Ontario Genomics Institue are co-hosting with MaRS, in the MaRS main auditorium at 101 College St., Toronto, from 6-8:30 pm on Monday, September 24th. The forum is titled “A Meeting of Minds: Art, Science & Popular Culture.”
The other panelists are Peter Outerbridge, lead actor in the Canadian TV science drama series, ReGenesis; Christina Jennings, creator and executive producer of ReGenesis; and Jeff Nisker, clinician, bioethicist and playwright of Sarah’s Daughters and Orchids, which explore the ethical issues around knowing one’s genetic make-up. We're incredibly pleased to annnounce our new site design!
We've received a great deal of help from the wonderful people at Rao Barrett and Welsh, particularly Gavin Barrett, and we'd like to thank them all for the amazing creative work they've done for the Creative Spirit Art Centre. We'd also like to thank Rich Lowenberg for his help with the site design.
We're still going to be streamlining a few things on the site here and there as we go, so you may notice some additional changes in the next few days
