The Great Awakening Use this site to answer questions such as: What caused the Great Awakening? Who was involved in the Great Awakening? What were the effects of the Great Awakening? The First Great Awakening, occurring around 1730 to 1760, had a profound impact on the course of the United States, especially during the latter half of the Eighteenth Century. Although not widely spoken of in modern times, the Great Awakening was a movement rooted in spiritual growth which brought a national identity to Colonial America.
