Hungarian Táncház Band
Jómóka {pronounced
yo-mo-ka}
travels throughout the Western US to bring traditional village dance
music
from Hungary and Transylvania to dance parties, dance workshops, and
dance
performances. Most of our
music is played
with violin, modified viola (kontra), and bass.
We vary this with wooden flute, drum, koboz, gardon, and cimbalom to
capture
typical sounds of different musical regions.

Study
with Hungarian musicians in USA, Hungary and Transylvania
Jómóka regularly
attends annual, weeklong music instruction workshops at
Barátság
(Mendocino, CA) and Ti Ti Tábor
(Seattle, WA). In addition, we have studied in Transylvania with
village
musicians from Magyarszovát, Vajdaszentivány
and Méra.

Annual and other appearances in various concert
venues as
Zivio performs Hungarian dance throughout Utah.

1991 to Present - Weekend
Dance Workshops and Dance Parties
We travel to various cities (Boulder, CO;
Dodgeville, WI;
St. Louis, MO; Eugene, OR; Portland, OR; Las Vegas, NM; Los Angeles,
CA; San
Francisco,
CA; Seattle, WA) to provide 'non-stop' live music during daytime dance
instruction workshops and at evening dance parties.
