Overview of Project Home Physics Involved Race Day Data Conclusion Sam and Jessica's Dragster                 The goal of our project was to design and build a working dragster. We planned to race our dragster using CO2 cartridges. The starting point of our project was researching. To make an efficient dragster we had to research a lot of different topics such as: down-force, aerodynamics, wind resistance, and even friction. After researching as much as we thought we needed we drew a sketch of what we wanted our car to look like. We chose the shape and basic design based on what we found while researching. We designed our car with a skinny middle and a curved top so that air would glide up and over our dragster. The next step of our project was to measure on the block of wood where we needed the axel holes to be. After we did this we traced the side view of our car onto the block of wood for Mr. Pollok to cut out. When we got our car back after Mr. Pollok had cut it, we began sanding it down. We made it a lot smoother. After sanding our car, we then drew what we wanted the top view to look like, and traced that onto our wood. Our wood was then again cut down, and we had to continue sanding it. Finally when we thought that our dragster was smooth enough we began painting it. We painted our entire car black with spray paint. We wanted to make our car have bright pink flames on it, so we drew flames on a paper and made a stencil. We then used our stencil and painted bright pink flames onto our car.  The following day we put our wheels on our car.  We wanted to create better friction, so we put a straw into the axel holes and added graphite. We also glued our wheels on so that they could not fall off during the race. Then finally the day to race our car had arrived. In order to race our car we had to put a CO2 cartridge into the back of our car. We also had to run fishing wire through the little hooks in the bottom of our car so that it would travel in a straight line.  When our car was all ready to be raced, we pushed down the button and it sent a little pin into the back of our CO2 cartridge, and our car took off.
