On this
page, we want to report on law that may affect seniors in the future. Mr.
Bartlett is active in communicating to the Arizona legislature concerning the
needs of seniors. We encourage you to do so as well.

The United States House of Representatives passed House Bill
4241 BY A MARGIN OF TWO VOTES. This Bill slashes Medicaid entitlements for poor people.
You can read the text of the bill. The Senate considered its
version of the legislation. The Senate version steered clear of
making changes that affect Medicaid eligibility. The House version and the
Senate version both passed and the matter went to a conference committee to
reconcile the differences in the Bills. The conference committee passed
the harsh language in the House version of the bill. But there were
technical additions that stopped the bill from passage until the House of
Representatives voted on it again on February 1, 2006. Again, the measure
passed by 2 votes. As of February 2, 2006, it has not been signed by President
Bush.
