NCRA Supports Bill That Strengthens ADA
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Amendments Act was approved by Congress on September 17 and signed into law by President Bush on September 25. The legislation solidifies Congress’s intention for the ADA to be a broad measure of protection and will mark a return to the original spirit of the law. More information
Board Nominations Open
Voting members of NCRA are invited to submit nominations for officers and directors to be voted on during the 2009 Convention next August. Positions to be chosen are President-Elect; Vice President; Secretary-Treasurer; three directors with terms of three years each.  Click here for a PDF form with information about qualifications and how to submit nominations.
10 X 10 Campaign Pursues Excellence inReporting
In her address to the convention in Anaheim, President Karen Yates challenged members to resist the attractions of complacency and instead take positive steps to strengthen the profession and the association by demonstrating mastery of our skills.
"Speak to 10 of your peers by 2010 and convince them to seek certification if they’re not certified or to secure a more advanced or specialty-based certification if they are already certified," she said in launching the 10 X 10 Campaign. "By increasing the number of certified practitioners – especially Certified Realtime Reporters -- and raising our professional standards, we strengthen NCRA and the profession, to the benefit of our clients, the public, and ourselves."
The text of Karen Yates speech is available online. In addition you may view the video of the speech if you like. Please be aware that the speech is 19 minutes long and is thus a very large download. Downloading the video is not recommended for anyone on a dial-up connection.
