Welcome to the Men's Resource Center for Change window.alert("...beginning Oct. 7, the Tuesday night open group meets at the North Star School at 135 Russell St, Hadley, with an entrance on Route 47..."); Executive Director Jim Sheehan Associate Executive Director Eve Bogdanove The Men’s Resource Center for Change stands at a crossroads... ...as we both continue the work we have started, and develop new programs in response to the needs of the communities and individuals we serve. Men of all backgrounds, heritage and lifestyles, who struggle with personal anger and pain in a society that all too often chooses conflict and confrontation over cooperation and compassion. Youth who grow up confused and damaged by stereotypical attitudes toward abuse of women, and by the rigid boundaries of so-called masculine behaviors, need to be taught that there are other ways to live, other choices available and other dimensions to manhood. Veterans returning from the intense violence and trauma of the war cries out for the compassionate response from the MRC. Incarcerated men whose lives have been shaken to the core by their histories of violence need support as they face themselves and their pasts and prepare to return to the world where manhood is still often measured by the loudest voice, the hardest fist, or the weapon of choice. Women who have been abused by partners need space to speak their truth and to heal themselves from the impact of assaults on their bodies and their spirits. download or read the Fall Appeal online. Change in Support Group Meetings The Sunday night men's drop-in support group, held at the MRC building in Amherst, has come to a close. June 29th was its last scheduled meeting. Four other facilitated groups will continue, however, including the relocated Tuesday night group, which meets at the North Star School at 135 Russell St., Hadley from 7 to 9 PM, but the entrance is on Route 47; participants enter through the front door which faces Route 47 and the Hadley Town Hall located across the street. There is some limited parking on the street, as well as in the town hall parking lot, and behind the high school which is 131 Russell St. There will be signs directing participants to the meeting room on the 2nd floor. All participants from the Amherst Sunday night meeting will be welcome there, and at the Wednesday night group in Greenfield, which meets at Network Chiropractic, 21 Mohawk Trail (Rte 2), from 7 to 9 PM. Also, don't forget the Monday night GBTQ group at the MRC (7 to 9 PM), and the Friday night group for men who have experienced childhood neglect or abuse, also meeting at the MRC (7 to 9 PM). For more information, please call (413) 253-9887 ext. 10, or e-mail the Support Groups. |
