KBHfH Home Page About Us Building Support News Calendar ReStore Contact Us Mission Statement Our Affiliate Habitat International Board Officers Board of Directors Building Houses Building Hope Everyone deserves a decent affordable place to live. Almost 4,000 Klamath Basin households live in deep poverty by Federal standards. Many more household incomes are below the Klamath County livable wage. There is no such thing as safe, decent, affordable shelter for most of these families. Affordable means $250 to $350 a month, while the Klamath Basin fair market rent for a two bedroom apartment is almost $600 a month. These families have to choose between decent shelter and the other basic necessities of life. We could change the lives of thousands of Klamath Basin families and build a stronger more vibrant community with simple, decent, affordable shelter. Klamath Basin Habitat for Humanity provides a focal point to bring the community and selected families together in a partnership to build houses that achieve these goals. This means coordinating donations, volunteers, construction and family selection. The success of your local Habitat for Humanity is a direct reflection of the values, love, and charity of the community. Please donate generously. Help a family for life, not just a day. OUR MISSION STATEMENT We are a volunteer Christian-based housing ministry that strives to eliminate poverty housing by making affordable, decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY Klamath Basin Habitat for Humanity does not discriminate in the selection of families on the basis of race, creed, gender, disability, ethnic background, or any other characteristic protected by law. OUR AFFILIATE Klamath Basin Habitat for Humanity is located in Klamath County, Oregon - home of beautiful Crater Lake National Park. We are currently building homes in Klamath Falls. Please take a few minutes to learn more about us. We became an official affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International in June 1996. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, so donations are tax deductible. Our purpose is to provide simple decent housing for selected, qualified families within the geographic boundaries of the Klamath Basin. We completed our first home in 1998, and began construction on our fourth home in summer 2006. So far, we have been fortunate in that all our land has been donated. Our affiliate is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that meet the first Tuesday of each month. The meetings are open to the public. Check the calendar for current meeting location. Our full-time Executive Director manages the day-to-day operations of the affiliate and keeps the communication links open between our volunteer committees. Since we began building our Habitat houses, neighboring homes have been improving. The impact to our community allows those involved to see substantial progress in the project and to witness the pride of ownership for our families. The outcome is to build a strong community consortium among the people, businesses, and churches. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses are sold to selected Habitat partner families at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families invest their own labor (sweat equity) to build their home and the homes of others. Mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, HFHI’s work in the United States is accomplished by established affiliates. Habitat affiliates are independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations run by local boards and volunteers. Faithful individual and corporate donors provide the money and materials to build Habitat houses, while volunteers provide most of the labor. Habitat for Humanity International has taken its vision of a world with no more shacks to almost 100 nations. To date, HFHI has completed over 200,000 simple, decent, affordable houses around the globe and improved the lives of over 1,000,000 people. Board Officers President -- Cindy Moore Vice President -- vacant Secretary -- Jeannie Boese Treasurer -- vacant Board Members Lee Beech, Dan Becker, Mary Lou Beynon, Ben Coker, Chris Knight, Laura Olsen, Ed Williams Fran Coker -- Executive Director (non-voting ex-officio member of the board) Did you know? The Klamath County livable wage for a family of four with one adult working is $21.75 an hour. |
