2008 has confounded all those that heralded globalisation as a new era of capitalist growth, in which the class struggle would be tempered.
The credit crunch of 2007 has led to the banking crisis of 2008. The US has entered recession and Britain is about to follow, while China and India have serious problems with inflation and overaccumulation of capital.
