On one hand, I feel that the Mafia is an important partof our country's economic status. I also feel that the Mafia is a businessorganization run with the well being of the public, not the government,in mind. In fact, when the Mafia began in the ninth century, it was formedto protect the heritage and the people of Sicily. On the other hand, theMafia's main purposes are to make money and protect its members, and thishas led to a very corrupt organization, which as lost sight of its goalof helping it's "own" along with those in the lower class. Althoughthe Mafia would like people to believe that they are a group of old, retiredItalians who gather to play cards and talk about the "Old Country",they are obviously not. They have become a group of heartless killers withno morals. It is unfortunate, but I feel that this is a situation whereyou can't live with them, but you just can't live without them. It is importantfor you to know that I have not, and don't see myself, siding with eitherthe Mafia or the police, and because of that, this page may promote a pro-Mafiaattitude in some areas and may bad mouth it in others. There is one thingthing that this page will never promote or imply: the nonexistence of theItalian Mafia. Anyone who honestly believes that the Mafia does not existis either extremely ignorant or incredibly uninformed.
